Premium Golf Shafts

This is where things get interesting, it is the real "meat and
potatoes" required for true custom club fitting and building. This is what sets
true custom fitted clubs apart from the "cut and glued" versions. Ideally (if
you're in the Regina area), our fitting session is done in my fitting area where
my launch monitor and hitting net are set up. You don't necessarily have
to live in the Regina area in order to get fit - we are seeing more and more
people every year driving in from as far as 300 miles away for their personal
fitting experience.
NOTE: "Long-distance" type fittings (where you are not
able to come for an in-person fitting) can be arranged at special request only (a
warning - be prepared for A LOT of communication). We've done some long
distance work in the past with good success, however there's nothing like "being
there" in order to get every possible element perfect.
A typical in-person "performance based" fitting session will involve;
-
You bringing your current clubs and golf shoes with you.
-
A friendly discussion (interview) where I will ask you several
questions about your game, your swing, your shot tendencies, ball flight, your
consistency, etc.
-
Some warm-up time for you swinging and hitting balls to get
loose
-
Once you're warmed up, we break out the launch monitor and
we'll get you hitting some 6-irons (I fit for irons with 6-irons) acquire and
record a whole bunch of data on your swing and ball flight tendencies.
We record things like swing speed, ball speed, launch angle, angle of attack, back
spin, side spin, shot direction, carry distance, total distance, flight time,
ball height, descent angle, swing path, face angle... and more. We use your clubs initially, so we can establish a baseline
with regards to the fore mentioned elements, and impact labels on the club
face - this shows us where the ball contact is happening on the face of the
club.
During this
stage, please don't try to impress me by trying smash your 7-iron 190 yards
when you can only hit it 145 with your regular swing. The "more better" the
data is that we acquire, the "more better" your new clubs will be.
-
We will then test you for club length, shaft flex, shaft
weight, head weight, swingweight/MOI - all of this testing is done using the
launch monitor and
impact labels so we can see and track the results. For irons, I have several
different 6-iron heads fitted with Club Conex fittings which allow me to
inter-change several different shafts of all of these heads (currently several
hundred head/shaft combinations in our demo line-up). For
drivers, I have 9 different driver heads prepared with Club Conex and several
different shafts prepared (several hundred different possibilities of head/shaft
combinations).
-
High-def video of your swing is taken from down the line, and face-on
with a 6-iron and a driver. I upload the video to my computer and run it
through golf swing analysis software to help me acquire certain key data
elements of your swing. You can also learn a great deal about your swing
from the swing videos - this data is always shared with you. What you
think you're doing, and what your body is actually doing during a swing are
usually two very different things.
-
Physical measurements are taken to help get us into a ballpark
with regards to
proper club length and grip size.
-
Lie angle in relation to your swing is
checked dynamically (with you hitting balls).
-
All of this will be followed by a general discussion on what
you want to achieve with your new clubs, recommendations on set make-up of
your new clubs, grips, heads, and shaft recommendations for your new clubs.
We have many quality components to choose from, we will work with you to help
you select the components, and build options that will give you the most bang
for your buck for your new clubs.
-
By the time we're done, we will have dialed-in to a
combination that will produce better feel, consistency, a higher percentage of
on-center ball contact - you get to see and feel it for yourself - impact
labels, video, and the launch monitor will NOT lie to you. I'm confident that after our session is
done, you will be a believer too!
-
Complete fitting sessions generally last 2-3 hours (sometimes even a
bit more).
Fitting Charges;
Irons fitting - $125.00 + GST
Driver only fitting - $125.00 + GST
Wedge only fitting - $100.00 + GST
Any combination of the above - $150.00 (MUST all
done in same session).
Fittings are by appointment only, and must be paid
in full before the fitting commences.
For the better players who might not be sure the
golf ball they are playing is the best for them or not, we can schedule you for
a ball fitting to optimize your driver/ball combination. This will
determine exactly what golf ball gives you the best ball speed/spin/distance
combination. You supply the golf balls and you can test as many different
golf balls as you'd like in 1/2 hour for $50.00 - you will be given a copy of
all golf ball data acquired during the ball fitting.
The above fees are charged to do an in-person
custom fitting session - payable before the fitting session begins. This fee
helps to pay for the launch monitor, demo heads, demo shafts, grips, swing speed and ball
speed meters, high-def video capture equipment and swing analysis software.
All of this equipment is necessary in order to do a complete and proper fitting.
NOTE: ** Launch monitor is used in all fittings to acquire data, and help
us fine tune/optimize the exact combination that's right for you. We also
utilize high-def video in our fittings to we can see exactly what's happening
with your swing. The slow motion high-def video tells a great deal more
than the naked eye can at regular speed. The video is also plugged into
our "C-Swing" software (golf swing analysis program) when we get back to the
office so we can have a closer look/analysis of your golf swing, and gather some
key swing data.
Typical "long-distance" (communication) fitting will
involve;
NOTE: "Long-distance" fittings done only by special
request, and in special circumstances - it is best to get fit in person if at
all possible. If you are located near one of my fellow AGCP members, I
will refer you to him/her for an "in-person" fitting.
-
A great deal of quality communication - email, telephone, etc.
- we want your clubs to be as good as possible, the better the information you
supply us with, the "more better" your new clubs will be for you.
-
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - If by chance you have a short video of your swing (like an
.mpg or .avi video file), or can get one made, I will ask you to email
it to me. Preferably it will show an angle with you facing the camera at
address, and also one from behind the target line. I would like to see a
swing with a 5-iron and a driver from each angle. VIDEO IS A
CRUCIAL ELEMENT OF PROPER FITTING.
-
Our "long-distance" fitting will start with me sending you a
very in-depth email questionnaire asking for several measurements, and many
other detailed questions. Once you complete the questionnaire and have all of
your measurements, you either email or fax the completed survey and
measurements back to me to review.
-
This will be followed up with a telephone call within the next
day or two (I will call you when we can arrange a mutually acceptable time) -
we will have a friendly discussion (interview) where I will ask you several
questions about your game, your swing, your shot tendencies, ball flight, your
consistency, etc. In addition to that, we will also review a lot of the
information on the email survey you sent back to me.
-
I will ask your swing speed with a 5-iron and a driver. Don't
worry if you don't know your exact swing speed, as we can get it fairly close
- this is directly related to carry distance (in yards) of the various clubs
in your bag - be prepared to answer several questions regarding your carry
distance and ball flight for each of your clubs.
-
We will discuss swing speed, swing tempo, release point and
how they relate to shaft requirements.
-
We will also discuss many other things - such as your current
clubs, your current set make-up, grips, your hand size, your current grips,
your grip preferences, your swing tendencies, your mis-hit tendencies, your
regular ball flight/trajectory, common slice/hook/straight flight pattern,
your likes/dislikes with your current clubs, what iron(s) you hit the best,
what wood(s) you hit the best.
-
We will finish off by discussing your new club recommendations
for grips, heads, shaft flex and material, and set make-up (which
irons/wedges/hybrids/woods to use). We will also discuss the different build
options at this time.
-
Hopefully we will have covered everything necessary. I will
be making notes as we speak on the telephone, and may have more questions as
we go along. Remember - we want as many details as possible in order to
make your new clubs the best they can be.
All it takes to initiate the process is to
send me an email
inquiring about a custom fitting session. Hopefully before you do that, you
will have looked through our components and picked a few favorites out. There
is a contact link on the left-hand side of this screen (at the bottom of the
menu area).
